Sandra Bullock's husband Jesse James pleads 'forgive me'

Updated 10:16am on 19 Mar 2010

Sandra Bullock's husband has broken his silence on reports that he cheated on his Oscar-winning wife.

Jesse James told People magazine in the US that he used "poor judgment" and pleaded with his family to forgive him.

The custom motorcycle manufacturer and reality TV star who married Bullock five years ago, said he took responsibility for his actions but stopped short of admitting that he had an affair with another woman.

Bullock, 45, pulled out of the London premiere of The Blind Side after American celebrity magazine In Touch Weekly published claims by a tattoo model that she slept with James last year.

"It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way," James said in a statement to People.

"This has caused my wife and kids pain and embarrassment beyond comprehension and I am extremely saddened to have brought this on them. I am truly very sorry for the grief I have caused them. I hope one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me."

According to reports, Bullock had moved out of the home she shared with James.

She is the latest in a long line of actresses whose relationships have fallen apart shortly after they won an Oscar.

Recent previous winners afflicted by what has come to be known in Hollywood as the "Oscar curse" for best actresses include Hilary Swank, Halle Berry, Reese Witherspoon and Julia Roberts.

British actress Kate Winslet, who won the Oscar last year for her role in the The Reader, announced on Monday that she and her film director husband, Sam Mendes, had separated.

Take him back by all means, but never forgive. The hurt will always be there.

By coincidence her film, Hope Floats, has just aired on TV which is a similar situation. She should remember that and dump him. He must use the same PR as Woods, "poor judgement" nice touch.

I don't believe the Oscar is a curse just look at Meryl Streep. I think it all boils down to the type of men some women choose.
