Madonna’s £20,000 night for her dancers has a fine ending

Updated 12:01pm on 21 May 2010

Madonna found herself with an unwelcome extra expense after spending almost £20,000 on a London thank-you party for her backing dancers.

Expense: Madonna arrives at Aura

The singer had flown in her 18-strong team from Germany for a night of entertainment at Aura nightclub in Piccadilly.

But unknown to her, while she was inside racking up a £10,000 bar bill, a parking warden
was outside slapping an £80 penalty ticket on her car, which had been left on double yellow lines.

The singer, 51, had earlier taken her entourage for dinner at Supperclub in Notting Hill. At Aura she bought bottles of Cristal champagne, which arrived with lit sparklers attached, and expensive spirits. She encouraged her entourage to hold dance-offs against each other, then left them to it at 1.30am.

A source said: “The evening was a thank-you to her team after their hard work on her recent tour.

“Madonna didn't have any of her own extra security. She was happy to mix with the dancers on the dance floor and filmed them doing elaborate routines in front of a gawping crowd.”

This is news? If so, can I have a job as a reporter?
