Happy at 50: Simon Cowell is content

Simon Cowell having 'happiest year' of his life

Updated 10:24am on 8 Sep 2010

Simon Cowell thinks his life has got even better since turning 50.

The music mogul - who got engaged to girlfriend Mezghan Hussainy earlier this year -is more content in his personal life and thinks his career has improved further, with plans for his talent show 'The X Factor' to launch on US television.

He said: "Has this been my happiest year? Yes it has. When you hit 50, you realise what you want to do with your life. Do you slow down or carry on? I've made the decision to carry on. I'm having a good time.

"I like the fact people are still interested in our shows. They are great fun to work on. It's the best feeling in the world."

Though Simon still enjoys his career, he is taking more time to relax and enjoy his life.

He explained to OK! magazine: "Being with my friends makes me relax. I'm taking more holidays than I used to. But it's my choice whether I work hard and I still like my work and I do work hard."

The TV talent show judge has even discovered a new hobby - cooking, though he admits his culinary prowess is limited.

He added: "I have started to cook. I am not very good but I enjoy it."
