Thousands of Londoners shopped alongside the stars as fashion stores laid on a glamorous West End party.

Fashion's Night Out, masterminded by Vogue, saw couture lovers hopping between designer bashes. Shops in and around Regent Street, Bond Street and Oxford Street stayed open until 10pm yesterday, offering glitzy events, live music — and a 10 per cent discount.

Giorgio Armani and Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman hosted the most lavish party, at Emporio Armani on Bond Street. Claudia Schiffer, Bill Nighy, Gemma Arterton, Jo Wood and David Gandy popped in to chat, have a cocktail and browse.

Jaquetta Wheeler, right, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers dropped by to see Armani, despite him being the face of rival Hugo Boss. “Giorgio is an incredible designer,” he said. “I don't spend a lot of time at these kind of things so it's rare that I'll dress up for something. I'm usually at home doing chores.”

At the Stella McCartney boutique in Mayfair, Paltrow unveiled “My wardrobe and Me: An exhibition from the young people of Kids Company” .
The event raised money for the children's charity. Shulman said: “I'm delighted we were able to partner Kids Company.”Sophie Ellis-Bextor DJ-ed at Juicy Couture and Matthew Williamson's outlet became a Moroccan souk.

In Selfridges, La Roux performed at Mulberry and Lily Allen launched a pop-up outlet. Lisa Snowdon hosted a show at the Marble Arch M&S. London Fashion Week is later this month.
