Susan Boyle makes a stand and pulls out of America's Got Talent
Updated 12:54pm on 10 Sep 2010Susan Boyle pulled out of performing on America's Got Talent last night after she was stopped from singing Perfect Day.
The Scottish singing sensation had planned to perform the track with a 100-piece children's choir but songwriter Lou Reed pulled the plug at the last minute because he didn't want Susan covering his track.
Susan was left with just two hours to rehearse a new song but decided it wasn't enough time and told organisers she wouldn't be taking to the stage.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: "Lou didn't want Susan to perform his song - he's not a Susan fan. It's a big deal to change a song at the last minute. Susan was really upset. She was in tears and was forced to pull out of the show, and decided to come back to the UK."
Representatives for America's Got Talent, Lou or Susan are yet to comment on the matter.
Meanwhile, the Wild Horses hitmaker has moved house.
The 49-year-old star - who rose to fame on UK TV talent show Britain's Got Talent - has moved out of her council house and into a five-bedroom £300,000 home in West Lothian.

As songs go, Perfect Day is about as good as it gets - and it's about time someone stood up to the endless dire cover versions that the talent-show "celebrities" insist on recording.
If you can't sing something without relying on the instant recognition that an existing hit song offers, then maybe there are more important issues to worry about.
And please, don't get emotion confused with shouting loudly.

I just pulled this little ditty up on itunes, and I would never buy it. To be honest both Lou Reed and his little song are so beneath the emotional prowess that Susan Boyle projects in her music. I question who requested that she do this anemic number. Sorry that it had anything to do with America's Got Talent!

Surely an impromptu rendition of "Donald, Where's Your Troosers" isn't beyond the ability of any Scottish singer?
