Always and forever: Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton

Chantelle Houghton wants marriage to Alex Reid to last

Evening Standard   Updated 15:31pm on 18 Oct 2011

Chantelle Houghton doesn't know if her marriage to Alex Reid will last forever.

The reality TV star recently got engaged to the cage fighter - who is in the process of divorcing Katie Price - following an eight-month romance, and while she hopes they stay together, the blonde beauty knows that feelings can change.

Chantelle - who was previously married to Ordinary Boys star Preston, who she met when they both appeared on 'Celebrity Big Brother' in 2006 - said: "I was married to Preston and Alex was married to Katie and we both said forever. Right now, we want to be together forever but you don't know what's going to happen in 20 years."

Both Chantelle and Alex believe their union has a better chance of lasting than their previous marriages because they take commitment more seriously.

Chantelle said: "When we were at the altar, Preston was going boss-eyed for a joke while I was saying my vows and that tainted it for me.

"Me and Alex have been through tough marriages and I know Alex would never do that. He takes marriage seriously too."

Alex added in a joint interview with OK! magazine: "Absolutely. Katie rolled her eyes when I was saying my vows. We both know what it feels like to be in dysfunctional relationships and we've learnt and become better people."
