Lembit Opik to set record straight at London theatre show

Updated 12:13pm on 30 Nov 2011

An audience is invited to watch the 'real Lembit Opik' in London's West End on Wednesday, December 14. "I'm not the man you read about in the newspapers," he says.

The politician and former I'm a Celebrity contestant will be taking part in a chat show in Great Portland Street for one evening only at The Albany Theatre. And he plans to set the record straight about his public persona.

As well as penning two books, to be released early next year, Opik has spent much of 2011 working on a campaign to succeed Boris Johnson as London mayor in 2012. He may have been pipped to the post as Lib Dem representative by another contender but there are plenty more projects to keep him busy.

He is as much a media personality as he is a political figure and hits the headlines as frequently for his personal life as his career. Indeed, his romantic involvements have been scrutinised by the tabloids - with ITV weather presenter Siān Lloyd and Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia amongst former girlfriends.

But what matters most to Opik- his media or political reputation? Find out at The London Chat Show.

Tickets cost £10 (£7.50 concs) All proceeds go to charity.
