Her husband Kevin Federline took Britney to an LA hospital for a Cesarean section on Monday night.
"Kevin took Britney to the hospital in the evening hours of September 11 to prepare for the Cesarean birth," an insider told a US magazine. It is understood that Britney's mother Lynn and sister Jamie Lynn were the only other family members present.
Kevin's family were reportedly not there. "Kevin sent a text message over his cell phone to all the Federline family members to let them know," the source told the American tabloid The National Enquirer.
The source also revealed Britney wanted to have her second child on September 14 - the first birthday of Sean Preston - but Kevin put his foot down because he did not want his children to have the same birthday.
Britney, who used to date Justin Timberlake, announced her engagement to Kevin in July 2004 - three months after they met at a club in Hollywood. On the night of September 18, 2004, they married before 27 guests in a surprise ceremony in Studio City, California.
Britney announced her first pregnancy via her official website in April 2005 and gave birth to Sean Preston on September 14 last year in Santa Monica's UCLA Medical Centre. In May this year she announced her second pregnancy with a surprise appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman.
