Back to her best: Britney rehearses steamy new dance routine

At last year's MTV Video Music Awards Britney was out of shape and forgot the words to her own song. But a year on the pop princess is back to her best - slimmer than ever and glowing as she rehearses the steps to a complex new dance routine.

The clip of Britney and her dancers has been released on the internet and has fuelled rumours that Britney may be planning a surprise comeback at tomorrow's ceremony.

The starlet is already scheduled to open the show with British comedian Russell Brand, but bosses have denied claims that she will be singing on the night.

However this steamy choereographed routine, which shows Britney in a tiny tied up cropped top, will do nothing to dispel the rumours.

In it Britney appears step perfect as she and her dancers spring around the rehearsal.

It is a far cry from 12 months ago when the troubled star forgot the words at the beginning of her set, covering her mouth with her hand as she giggled at her mistake.

She then appeared to trip a few times, although this was later blamed on a broken heel on her stiletto boots. The bored audience were shown yawning as she performedher a basic routine.

Britney's fuller sized figure was also criticised, with the mother-of-two performing in a sparkly underwear set which left little to the imagination.
