The actress awoke yesterday morning unable to open her eyes normally and was seen as an outpatient at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

She was discharged shortly after tests. Doctors said the symptoms were not permanent.

Billie Piper was rushed to a specialist hospital yesterday over fears her eyes were damaged

A spokeswoman for ITV, where Piper has just finished filming Secret Diary of a Call Girl, said: "The doctor told her to rest for a few days and avoid the light.

"She is okay and will be resting over the weekend."

Sources say Piper's eyes reacted badly to flash photography following a photoshoot.
