Head bang: the injured supermodel and boyfriend Jamie Hince
But Kate Moss and boyfriend Jamie Hince explained away the mysterious cuts and bruises they sported this week by saying they were the result of a bizarre accident involving holly and baubles.
The pair blamed a "Christmas decoration incident" for The Kills guitarist's black eye and the scrapes down the supermodel's cheek. Eyebrows were raised over the couple's injuries at the switching on of the Christmas lights at Stella McCartney's Mayfair store this week.
But the injuries did not stop party girl Moss enjoying the bash.
A fellow guest described how the pair laughed off questions about the scrapes: "Jamie and Kate couldn't stop chuckling when people gingerly asked about their injuries. He said he was on a ladder and she was waiting at the bottom for him to pass down the boxes of decorations.
"But he lost his grip on one and heavy decorations landed on their heads."
Moss and Hince were joined at the bash by Sir Paul McCartney, his girlfriend Nancy Shevell and Lulu. Comic Peter Kay also turned up as his talent show alter ego Geraldine and serenaded the crowd. Moss and Hince seem to be early with their Christmas celebrations.
After visiting the shop on Monday night they jumped into a car with Stella McCartney and a bottle of champagne and went to a party in Shoreditch.
Then last night Moss was out again with Hince, going for dinner at China Tang at The Dorchester hotel in Park Lane, before carrying on their night out into the early hours.
