Matt Tong, 27, fell ill after a show in Atlanta last night.

He collapsed shortly after coming off stage, and was rushed to hospital.

Doctors say he is in a comfortable condition and not in any danger, but will remain under observation for at least three days.

A spokeswoman for the band said Tong may have sustained the injury while drumming.

"Matt is known for his energetic drumming style," she said.

"He got through last night's gig but collapsed when he came off stage. He will be in hospital for a few days, and it's not clear at this stage when he will be fit to resume performing."

The band, who earned a Mercury Prize nomination for debut album Silent Alarm, are in the middle of a US tour with fellow band Panic! At The Disco.

They have cancelled a number of shows, including a sold-out date at New York's Madison Square Garden on Monday.
