Bovvered no more: Catherine Tate to 'kill off' Lauren

Comic Catherine Tate is planning to kill off loudmouth teenager Lauren Cooper, according to reports.

Lauren - catchphrase: "Am I bovvered?" - will meet her end in a BBC Christmas special.

Tate wants to concentrate on more serious acting roles after landing the part of Doctor Who's new assistant, according to the Daily Mirror.

A show insider said: "It's going to be Lauren Cooper RIP. Catherine thinks it's time to kill her off, and she'll be going in spectacular style."

Pop star George Michael has already been signed up for the Christmas special - sparking speculation that he will play a role in her demise.

Lauren is the most famous character from BBC2's Catherine Tate Show.

Earlier this year she starred in a Comic Relief sketch alongside then prime minister Tony Blair.

Mr Blair uttered the famous "Am I bovvered?" line when Lauren visited Downing Street for work experience.
