Boyzone left in limbo by Mark Ronson

When Ronan Keating told us last week that Mark Ronson was working on the new Boyzone album, the news took everyone by surprise. But no one more so, it seems, than super-producer Ronson himself.

Crossed wires? Ronan Keating and Mark Ronson

Maybe Ronan was trying to earn a little more street cred for his band, or perhaps some record execs had simply got their wires crossed.

Either way, Mark has left the Irish lads a little red-faced after outrightly denying Ronan's claims. He said on Twitter: "I read I was working with the group Boyzone. Um, categorically untrue."

This is rather embarrassing for Ronan, who told us about the lads' upcoming album last week at Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds premiere in Leicester Square.

He said: "Mark Ronson is involved. I like him a lot, I'm a big fan. The album is very different than what people would expect. It's colourful, uplifting, up tempo stuff. It should be out for spring."

Neither spokespeople for Boyzone nor Ronson could shed any light on the matter today, which only adds intrigue to the mystery.

However, Mark should be wary about denying things on Twitter after his pal Lily Allen was caught out last week.

We told you how she was on the bill for French festival Les Vieilles Charrues but pulled out due to "personal reasons".

She Tweeted: "I have never heard of this French festival." Her people later admitted she had in fact been booked to perform at the event, making Lily look a bit silly.
