He was the unlikely prospect who turned up for a televised national talent show to sing in a supermarket-bought suit with damaged teeth.
But Paul Potts belted out operatic classics with a voice so much richer than his £35 threads, that he scooped the top prize of Britain's Got Talent, watched by 12 million viewers.
Now, despite proclaiming himself an "everyman" who refuses to change, he has put his £100,000 prize money to work on his image with dental work to correct his previously wonky smile.

Before the dentistry: Paul Potts damaged smile as he appeared on Britain's Got Talent

The singer, who aspires to be the next Luciano Pavarotti, is currently on a promotional tour of Germany.
His new look is bound to please new boss Simon Cowell who has signed him to his label Sony Bmg.
The music mogul knows the power of a Hollywood smile when attempting to crack the American market.
Previously, Paul Potts had admitted his teeth made him feel self-conscious when he told the Mail: "I'm not sure about veneers but I do want to get the crown repaired.
"It would be nice to be able to smile naturally. I feel very self conscious about it at the moment."
But he said apart from losing a stone in weight and upgrading from Tesco to Burton's suits, he had no plans to glamourise his image.
"Whatever happens," he said, "I still remain an ordinary bloke. I am no better than other people - I just happen to have a different talent."
