Britney left fuming as parenting monitor takes control

Britney Spears struggled to hide her contempt for the court-appointed parenting monitor who watched over her latest visit with sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.

The female supervisor, who reportedly filed a scathing report on the star's mothering skills earlier this week, made it clear who was in control by relegating Britney to the passenger seat during an afternoon out in LA.

A despondent Britney could barely muster a smile as the group headed out for a trip to buy the boys a backyard swing set.

Meanwhile, Britney has avoided a criminal hit-and-run trial by paying for damages in a crash but still faces a charge of driving without a license.

Britney was not required to attend the hearing on the misdemeanor charges stemming from an August 6 parking lot mishap.

Superior Court Commissioner Susan Speer dismissed the hit-and-run charge after a lawyer for the pop star said his client had paid an undisclosed amount to a woman whose car was hit in a California parking lot.

A charge of driving without a license was not dismissed, and a pretrial hearing was scheduled for November 26.

The commissioner accepted a not guilty plea entered on Spears' behalf by lawyer Michael Flanagan.

Yesterday, Britney was left "bawling like a baby" after a co-parenting session with Kevin Federline.

The pair are due to meet again today, this time in court, for the latest hearing in their ongoing custody battle.
