The singer, 26, popped out in Hollywood to have some serious highlights at her salon of choice, BTV Borrelli-Vo in Beverley Hills.

It is only just over a year ago that Britney marched into a hairdressers and shaved her head completely bald.

But she has clearly decided to return to her long, blonde locks - albeit with some help from a set of extensions.

Her newly golden look was topped off with her usual fake tan and a pristine-looking French manicure.

She even cracked a small smile in the back of the car as she was driven away.

Perhaps her trip to the hairdresser was also an attempt to "wash that man right out of my hair" after on-off boyfriend Adnan Ghalib was pictured with one of her arch ememies.

The Brummie-born paparazzo was spotted out and about with Kathy Griffin - an American comedienne who regularly takes the mickey out of Britney on her shows.

Photographers at first mistook Griffin, 47, for Britney wearing a ginger wig but soon realised Ghalib was with another woman.

The oddly matched couple had lunch and shopped for lingerie.

But Britney, wearing a shimmering, halt-neck top and aviator-style sunglasses and with her new barnet, looked like she could not care less.

After a tumultuous year which has seen her receive psychiatric treatment in hospital and lose custody of her children, it finally seems she could be turning the corner.

A cameo on popular U.S. sitcom How I Met Your Mother two months ago sent viewing figures soaring and she is said to be in talks for a second stint.

Only just over a year ago, Britney completely shaved her head in a fit of rage
