The pop singer has made a surprise appearance on a new - and rather bizarre - six-part reality show to air on E! called Sunset Tan, which is filmed in a Hollywood salon.

The pop star revealed her new bronzed look

After her tan, Britney gushed: 'I love it!'

In the footage, which appears to have been taken before Spears' head-shaving meltdown earlier this, the star happily posed for the camera and showed off her enhanced complexion.

She wore a casual brown sundress with plunging neckline, and completed the summer time look with oversized sunglasses and silver flip flops.

The star requested a 'dark' spray tan, certainly a more health-conscious option than baking in the sun.

Spears revealed: "I love tanning because it's my time to escape from the world."

The salon boasts a host of celebrity clients including Christina Aguilera and Lindsay Lohan.

But the show has already attracted critics - to program is set to air footage of a pre-teen girl being taken to the salon by her mother to get a fake tan ahead of school photo day.
