Buzzed off: Housemates Dennis and Rachel blow a fuse after failing electricity task

Big Brother housemates blew a fuse when they failed today's electricity task.

Dennis and Rachel, having been voted the most persistent housemates, were given an infuriating Hot Buzz challenge to pass a metal wand along a wire track without it touching.

But housemates paid the price, as every contestant was dressed in a metallic body suit and fitted with a device that provided an electric shock each time Dennis and Rachel failed.

However, failure in the task did not just end hopes for a £5 a day each luxury shopping budget, it also caused more friction in the house.

Dennis made Kathreya cry when he deliberately shocked housemates as a prank.

But things were even more heated between Rex and Alexandra when a row erupted when the accounts executive from Croydon said she could not take the pain of the electricity shocks and wanted to remove her device.

Rex said: "It's a bit of pain but think how much pleasure it's going to cause. Do you know how much pleasure you're going to get from eating all the food, people being happy, people being able to have a nice time in here?"

Alexandra retorted: "Don't tell me what my threshold is. I wouldn't take off my suit easily. I went through childbirth, yes I've got three tattoos, and yes a strong woman like me cannot take any more. Don't keep rubbing it in my face, all right?"

However, despite their failure in the task other housemates rallied in support of the defeated contestants. Jennifer, Stephanie and  Kathreya all consoled Dennis and Rachel.

Darnell said: "That was hard as hell. I couldn't have done it."
