Carrie finally walks down the aisle, but is it happily ever after?

Her tumultuous love life has enthralled fans since Sex and the City debuted in 1998 - and now Carrie Bradshaw is finally getting married.

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the New York-based columnist, yesterday shot wedding scenes at New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral wearing a wearing an extravagant strapless Vivienne Westwood gown.

Flower power: the actress carried a traditional bouquet of roses

Her traditional full length veil was trimmed with a giant turquoise feather in typically quirky Carrie Bradshaw style.

While there was no sign of Chris Noth - who plays her on-off boyfriend Mr Big - he is widely expected to be Carrie's groom.

The New York Post reports: "Mr. Big and Carrie definitely tie the knot - and it's no small-time affair."

Of course Carrie's best friends Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda - played by Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon respectively, were all on hand to celebrate the occasion.

Each wore a different dress and colour created by designer Zac Posen; Davis was spotted in a black fishtail gown, Nixon in a cobalt blue chiffon ensemble, while Cattrall wore a ruffled scarlet dress.

A woman who stars as a well-wisher reportedly congratulates Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, saying: "Mazel Tov! I read it in [New York gossip column] Page Six."

It's not the first major spoiler to leak from from the New York City set. Davis' character Charlotte, who was desperate to conceive a baby before finally adopting with her husband Harry Goldenblatt, was seen filming with a large prosthetic baby bump last month.

The film, out next May, picks up four years on from the final episode, which attracted around four million viewers when it was shown on Channel 4 in March 2004.

The stars are believed to have negotiated fees in excess of £3million each.
