Caught: Lindsay Lohan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers at the same Hollywood bar

Lindsay Lohan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are known as two of the biggest hellraisers in Hollywood.

Well known for their well-publicised battles with alcoholism, the troubled stars have never been far from the headlines due to their partying antics.

So onlookers were naturally surprised to see the misbehaving pair at the same Hollywood club.

At the opening of Club Villa in West Hollywood at the weekend, Lohan and Rhys Meyers joined fellow celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio and Paris Hilton at the exclusive nightspot.

Surrounded by alcohol and hard-partying celebrities was the last place one would expect to find a recovering alcoholic.

Fortunately the pair didn't get the chance to be a bad influence on each other after Lohan left the club seperately.

Lohan, 21, spent two months at the Cirque Lodge in Utah last summer after she admitted her life "has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs".

Cirque Lodge was Lohan's second attempt at rehab that year and came days after she arrested for driving under the influence.

Meanwhile, Irish actor Rhys Meyers, 30, spent time in "an alcohol-treatment program" early last year, but was captured falling off the wagon in November when he was arrested for public drunkeness and breach of the peace in Dublin airport. The charges were later dropped after he apologised.

It's been a tough few months for The Tudors star - days after his arrest his mother Geraldine Meyers-O'Keeffe died, and he split from his long-term girlfriend Reena Hammer just before Christmas.

In an interview late last year, Rhys Meyers admitted his drink demons. He said: "Drink doesn't fit into the groove of where my life is going.

"I want to do really good things with my life. And drinking is not synonymous with that. The [Richard] Burton days, the [Peter] O'Toole days, they are gone."

Lohan only spent 90 mins at Villa before retreating back to her home, where she was later joined by on/off friend Hilton and her latest female companion Brittny Gastineau.

The young star's appearance at the venue follows recent reports in the New York Daily News that the actress was spotted drinking cocktails at the Beatrice Inn in New York.

After Lohan was photographed drinking champagne on New Year's Eve in Italy, her lawyer released a statement: "After being handed a champagne bottle while on a dance floor in Italy on New Year's Eve and drinking from it, the good news is that Lindsay stopped herself, called her sponsor, and got herself back on track."

In an interview with Glamour magazine, Lohan admitted she struggled to stay home at night because she gets lonely.

She said: "I'm fine being alone during the day, but I hate being alone at night. I like having friends around me, but now I'd much rather be at home.

"That's not to say I'll never go to a club again because I'd be lying."

Meanwhile, Rhys Meyers seemed in high spirits and happily signed autographs for fans as he arrived at the venue.

The actor didn't emerge until hours later looking bleary-eyed after proving he had more party stamina than Lohan.
