Talk about addictive viewing..."Celebrity Rehab" is the controversial new reality show that features participants who booze, snort coke and smoke crack.

The series - which aired for the first time across the US last night - features Grease star Jeff Conaway, actor Daniel Baldwin, actress Brigitte Nielson and Crazytown hit-maker Seth Binzer battling their drug demons.

In the first episode Conaway shows a home movie of himself downing £500-worth of pills and snorting line after line of cocaine.

For Bridgette Neilson she finally said "yes, yes, yes" to treatment after her children told her they couldn't stand to be around her drunk.

Crazytown frontman Seth Binzer - whose song "Butterfly" topped the UK charts - shows himself smoking crack in a limousine and admitting he thinks the next hit could kill him.

The celebs are among eight who agreed to let cameras follow them as they are treated by showbiz doctor Drew Pinsky at a facility in California.

It is an eye-opener into the world where A-list stars such as Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Pete Dougherty have gone to try and get clean.

"People think celebrities are going to some kind of spa treatment program when they go to rehab," said Dr Pinksy.

"They don't understand how hard it actually is." In the premiere episode one patient is clearly on the brink. Grease star Jeff Conaway almost dies within 24-hours of being in the facility in Pasadena, California, after loading himself up on £500-worth of drugs in his mind to ease the transition to treatment.

Conway, 57, is so out of it when he arrives for the show that all of his speech is subtitled.

Later on - after suffering severe seizures and hallucinations - an ambulance takes him away to hospital strapped to an oxygen mask and needing around the clock observation.

The show also feature a former American Idol contestant, Jessica Sierra, who is pictured vomiting into a toilet, porn star Mary Carey who is shown smuggling dildos into the facility in case she gets "horny" and former women's wrestler Chyna who believes her time at the top of the WWE was responsible for introducing her to drink and drugs.

Of all the star's on the show Daniel Baldwin appears the most stable having already been clean for a year leading up to the taping but admitting that he still battles the urge to snort coke on a daily basis.

Dr Pinskey has said he might consider treating Brits like Amy Winehouse and Pete Dougherty for his next series of the show but only if the public exposure doesn't have an adverse effect on the stars that he's just treated.
