David Walliams will star in an adaptation of his best-selling children's book about a girl who hides a smelly tramp in her garden shed.
The Little Britain star will play the Prime Minister in BBC1's Mr Stink later this year.
The book, which will be adapted by Walliams into an hour-long film, has already been turned into a stage show.
Walliams, currently working as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, said: "I am beyond thrilled that BBC 1 is adapting my children's book Mr Stink into a family film. I have written the script, and can't wait to see actors bring it to life."
The comic and actor has written four books for children since making his debut in 2008 with The Boy In The Dress.
BBC 1 controller Danny Cohen said: "Mr Stink is a heart-warming, nose-clenching and funny tale which will appeal to viewers of all ages. It's brilliant to be working with David to bring his magical tale to BBC 1."
