Cheryl Cole splits from 'love cheat' husband Ashley
23 February 2010
Her spokesman, Sundraj Sreenivasan, said: "Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole.
"Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time. We have no further comment to make."
Until now, the Fight For This Love singer has maintained a dignified silence over reports that her husband had been with other women.
She arrived back at her Surrey home this afternoon — while her husband Ashley was seen sneaking out just hours earlier.
The 26-year-old star returned from a week-long trip to the United States amid claims she had ordered her cheating husband to move out.
Chelsea and England footballer Ashley, 29, has been staying at the £6 million property while recovering from a broken ankle.
His wife arrived at Heathrow from Los Angeles on an Air New Zealand flight this morning.
The Girls Aloud singer, flanked by two police officers, hid behind large black sunglasses and a trilby hat as she was ushered through a side exit in the arrivals lounge.
She had flown to the US following allegations that her husband had been unfaithful with a number of women and reportedly texted Cole from LA to say their marriage was over.
She went to California after performing at the Brits last week, hours after learning her husband had sent sex texts to other women.
The X Factor judge has been pictured in LA being escorted by US dancer Derek Hough, 24, whom she met when she recorded her album 3 Words. Hough, who appeared in Dancing With The Stars, the US version of Strictly Come Dancing, co-starred in Cole's video for her single Parachutes.
Cheryl has been tipped to move to America to be a judge on Simon Cowell's US version of the X Factor.
Ashley is facing further problems from his club who could take disciplinary action following allegations over his private life.
The Barclays Premier League leaders said on Sunday that the latest issues were a private matter for Cole but that any incidents found to have broken club rules would be dealt with internally.
