The model claimed she was punched and spat at by the gang who called her a stupid cow and stole her mobile phone.

The thieves spotted her in the VIP section of Liverpool celebrity haunt, Newz bar, and followed her to the toilets.

According to The Sun, a witness to Saturday's assault said: "It was really nasty and Danielle was terrified.

"They were shouting, 'Who do you think you are, you bitch?' You're no better than us."

The Celebrity Big Brother contestant and model was later comforted by Wayne Rooney's fiancee Coleen McLoughlin who saw her crying in the VIP area at Liverpool's Newz club.

Danielle's spokesman said: "It was horrible. She's utterly distraught."

She had been celebrating handing a £56,400 chunk of her Celebrity Big Brother fee to a cancer centre.

Last week the unfortunate model was caught up in another incident in a club. She gashed her leg when a blonde woman pushed her off a table at a London nightclub.

Danielle was dumped by footballer Teddy Sheringham after the Big Brother race row. But she was reunited with BB winner Shilpa Shetty recently at the London premiere for her new film, "Life in Metro".
