Crumble in the jungle as supermodel Janice is a Bushtucker flop

She was described as one of the sexiest women of the seventies, bedding dozens of famous men, including Mick Jagger and Sylvester Stallone.

So it was never going to be an easy task maintaining that veneer of supermodel glamour when she was dumped in the I'm A Celebrity jungle.

And so it proved as Janice Dickinson, 52, put herself forward for the first Bushtucker Trial on this year's ITV series.

Get me out of here: Janice has had enough

Going in: Janice and ex-Eastender Marc Bannerman take on the task

The model's pout was replaced by a series of anguished grimaces and terrified gurning as she was faced with fish guts, worms and eels.

Despite her self confident claims to camp-mates, as she strong armed them into letting her do the challenge, it was in truth an abysmal failure.

This year as the contestants have been split into two camps, she was up against ex-Eastenders star Marc Bannerman to win a meal for her team.

... but the supermodel soon looked uncomfortable ...

The pair of them were attached to cog wheels which were lowered onto carriages full of unpleasant critters on a mini-railway line as they tried to collect stars.

But despite her boasts of self-confidence as she prepared, it all went horribly wrong for Dickinson right from the start of the challenge.

She immediately screamed I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! when faced with a carriage full of eels - yelling "No, not with eels, no" in the first container.

When the second carriage filled with pungent fish guts came along, she was beaten by Bannerman who collected five stars to her four.

... and then terrified

Winner: Action man Marc came out on top

Then in the third round she was left ignominiously coughing and spluttering from mealworms with no stars collected.

This was only after she was coaxed into that challenge by Ant and Dec having instantly screamed "forfeit, forfeit" when she saw the worms.

Unsurprisingly Bannerman won the challenge with some ease.

The antics capped a colourful first day in the jungle for Dickinson after she threatened to stab PR guru Lynne Franks after they rowed about food.

Dickinson, an exhibitionist, who looks set to be the most colourful character on this year's show, made a series of outrageous claims.

Amused: Ant and Dec were clearly entertained

She called Franks a "freak" and a "shrew" and also claimed she was going to "fry up those big old boobs" for food, before the pair made up.

Dickinson's failures in the Bushtucker Trial were all the more hilarious given the pumped-up promises she had given to her team.

She had told them: "You know I will do my very best 100 per cent to kick ass no matter what."

After brow-beating her colleagues she added: "Born ready baby, let's do it." Brimming with confidence she added: "What's shaking? What's crack a lackin."

Making up: Janice and Lynn attempt a reconciliation

When it had all gone wrong she said: "It's about compassion I never thought in my entire life I would choke on anything."

Dickinson is known as something of a wild one. She famously ridiculed Mick Jagger's "little willy" in an interview with Jonathan Ross.

What a difference a day makes: Janice in slightly more sophisticated mode

There were many more colourful tales in her autobiography, which also featured her exploits with other Hollywood A-listers including Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty.

Among the other celebrities in the jungle are soap actress/model Gemma Atkinson, football pundit Rodney Marsh, chef John Burton Race and former makeover TV star Anna Ryder Richardson.
