Daniel Craig swaps speedos for woolly jumpers in new film

He is lusted after for his film-stealing trunks shots as James Bond but in his next role Daniel Craig is wrapped up in woolly jumpers, as these pictures reveal.

Playing one of three Jewish brothers trying to escape Nazi-occupied Poland in his new film Defiance, Daniel will still be resuming his action hero persona.

Alongside Naomi Watts's significant other Liev Shreiber and Jamie Bell, known for his role as Billy Elliot, the actor will lead the film which has been in development for the past eight years.

In the film, Daniel teaches other Jews to protect themselves from attacking Nazis

Jamie Bell, on Daniel's right, plays his brother who escapes with him and other Jews to the Belarussian forest

From these shots taken onset, it looks like it will be a gritty, tense epic. Unlike the film he is known most for, Defiance will not have the glitz and glamour of James Bond.

In the film, the three lead characters join Russian resistance fighters and to build a village in the Belarussian forest to protect themselves and others in danger.

Directed by David Zwick of Blood Diamond fame, the period drama is sure to be a dramatic and realistic affair.
