'Diana wolf-whistled at me like a brickie' says Simon Le Bon

Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon has revealed how the Princess of Wales once wolf-whistled at him "like a brickie".

He is among famous names to recall memories of Diana ahead of the concert being held at Wembley on Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of her death.

Le Bon told Radio Times his encounter took place at Chelsea Harbour fitness club.

He said: "I was on the running machine. I jumped off because one of my shoelaces had come undone and she wolf-whistled at me across the room and yelled, like a brickie: 'Nice legs! I'd recognise that bum anywhere!'

"I was quite taken aback actually and quietly got back on the machine with a red face." Bandmate Nick Rhodes added: "She did like to laugh a lot. She saw the funny side of everything."

Status Quo guitarist Rick Parfitt first met Diana at Live Aid and had dinner with her and mutual friends several times.

"There was no stiff upper lip, no airs and graces," he said. "The language would sometimes get a bit risquÈ when we were around but she didn't seem to mind. I always thought of her as one of the lads."

English National Ballet soloist Daniel Jones, who will perform at the concert, said Diana would come to company rehearsals.

"One Valentine's Day she turned up with a huge heart-shaped cake and sat eating it with everybody," he recalled. "She wanted to have a gossip."

Andrew Lloyd Webber said: "I like to think I'm pretty good at understanding people, but I never really felt that with her. The eyes said something I didn't understand."
