Disgraced X factor finalist reveals suicide attempt
21 October 2007
Disgraced X Factor boot camp finalist Sisi Jghalef has claimed she tried to kill herself after being booted off the show.
The 22-year-old confessed she swallowed a handful of painkillers, before being discovered by her horrified mum.
She said "Once my X-Factor dream was shattered I plunged into a bottomless pit of total depression and worthlessness.
"Having been told I'd made the 12 finalists with girl-band Hope and then having my dreams snatched away destroyed me."
Sisi had been headed to the live finals with girl group Hope, but was then booted off after bosses discovered she had failed to complete 200 hours of community service.
Sisi had previously been convicted of racially threatening behaviour towards a black McDonald's worker.
Sisi's revelations will raise further questions about the extreme pressure impressionable wannabees are put under by X Factor and other reality shows in the search for TV ratings.
Network bosses are accused of falsely boosting the hopes of youngsters and then cynically dumping them because it makes compulsive viewing.
In past weeks Sisi has told how the X factor boot camp was little better than a Roman orgy and that drug-taking and sex were rampant between contestants.
Sisi also got involved in a 3am pavement scuffle with Big Brother star Charley.
The reasons for the cat-fight are unknown but she was seen violently clutching clumps of Charley's hair as she lay slumped on the pavement.
The pair have been inseparable over the past few weeks, partying into the small hours together. Not all of their wild nights ended as feistily as this.
