Atack found herself among the bottom two in the public vote despite scoring her best score of the series, 18.5, for a routine to The Crystals' Da Doo Ron Ron.
Her mother, actress and comedienne Kate Robbins, clapped encouragingly as her 20-year-old daughter faced the dance-off, knowing that she was up against one of the judges' favourite competitors.
Atack said: "I have had the most unbelievable experience here.
"It's changed my life. It's given me so much discipline."
Westbrook, who performed a country themed routine to Lynn Anderson's Rose Garden, received 22 points from the judges.
The 36-year-old actress joked: "I'm a bit too old to be doing it twice in one night" after a low number of viewer votes forced her to skate again.
She thanked the panel as she skated past after they voted 4-1 to save her.
Several of the skating celebrities were relieved to make it through this week after a difficult few days.
Boyzone singer Mikey Graham fell during the studio rehearsal for his routine and scored just 13.5 points after he struggled to find his confidence during the final performance.
Hollyoaks actor Keiron Richardson also looked surprised to make it through.
He split his lip while trying to master an axel unassisted jump during practice earlier this week but gave an assured performance last night.
The Bill actor Gary Lucy was relieved to survive his Winter Olympics-themed routine unscathed after his partner Maria Filippov's head came dangerously close to a barrier during one lift.
"It was tough. I'm absolutely exhausted but it was wicked," he said.
"I nearly knocked her out on the way round."
Ex-Emmerdale actress Hayley Tamaddon, who topped the scoreboard with 25.5 points, and former Coronation Street actor Danny Young, who scored 22, also made it through to next week.
