Eva opens Harrods sale for desperate shoppers

Hundreds of shoppers gathered to watch Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria open the Harrods winter sale at the Knightsbridge store.

The crowd outside Harrods gasped as Longoria arrived in a green carriage pulled by two black horses.

The TV and movie star dazzled onlookers in a Dolce and Gabbana black minidress, white Jasmine di Milo coat and stilettos by Christian Louboutin.

Harrods boss Mohammed Al Fayed, wearing a checked grey suit and patterned shirt, posed for pictures outside his store with Longoria.

A group of around 15 anti-fur campaigners, shouting "Shame on Harrods" in protest at the store's use of fur, failed to put the pair off.

Inside the store, Longoria stood on the first-floor balcony with Mr Al Fayed, waving to the 50 customers who had been let inside first.

"I hope you guys are ready to shop!" she shouted. "Thank you for having me. This is actually my favourite department store."

The crowds then counted down from 10 to mark the official opening of the store at 9am.

Followed by a crowd of a Scottish marching band, interested shoppers and the media, Longoria and Mr Al Fayed wandered through Harrods, stopping at the jewellery, pets, beds and toy sections.

The pair held hands at one point as they were constantly photographed by store customers on their mobile phones.
