Eva's desperate to tie the knot on the Cote d'Azur

Actress Eva Longoria had two reasons to celebrate last night at the People's Choice Awards. Not only was she voted the Best Female star on US television - she also got to show off an enormous engagement ring from fiancé Tony Parker.

It has been an interesting six months for the 31-year-old star of Desperate Housewives. Reports in October said Longoria and Parker had split for good, claiming that her acting career and his NBA basketball commitments were getting the better of them.

But, after their reconciliation in Paris last month, Parker quickly proposed and now The Eye can reveal they are planning a romantic wedding in the South of France on 7 July.

Eva is heading for the Cote d'Azur next month and will be looking for a garden on a hilltop overlooking the sea for their fairytale wedding.

As our photo shows, Longoria had the time of her life last night, showing off the massive rock that Parker had given her.

She also joked around with fellow Housewife Felicity Huffman, with Huffman seemingly transfixed by something down the back of Longoria's dress.

Recalling Parker's proposal, which was delivered amid a trail of rose petals and candles in December, Longoria said: "It was one of the happiest moments of my life.

"Tony is such a sweet and romantic soul. He really wanted to make his proposal a special day for us which we would never forget. And I never will forget it.

"I'm so looking forward to our wedding day. I want to have the most beautiful wedding possible!"

A close pal told the Eye: "Tony and Eva are thinking about holding the wedding ceremony in a garden atop a hilltop overlooking the sea. Eva is going to try to look at some locations in February with some of Tony's relatives who know the Cote d'Azur region well.

"Tony will let Eva decide, especially since he can't get away because of his schedule. Eva really wants to find a place where there would be lots of palms, lots of flowers, and something very scenic. She really wants to go all out for this and she's very excited about the wedding preparations."

The couple have been together for two years after meeting when Eva took her father to see a San Antonio Spurs game.

They plan to invite about 200 friends and relatives to their exchange of vows.
