Phillips, who left the ITV1 breakfast show in December 2008, will step into the Lorraine slot for a fortnight when the host takes her summer break.
Also lined up for a guest stint before the show is revamped in September will be ex-Spice Girl Emma Bunton and Kirsty Gallacher.
Phillips, who worked on GMTV for 15 years, will return to the programme on Monday.
She said: "I've spent nearly a third of my life so far sitting on the GMTV sofa, so I'm really excited to be going back to see my old mates and the viewers again."
Kelly will return at the beginning of September, for the launch of her new show, Lorraine. It is part of a shake-up of GMTV which will see the programme renamed Daybreak and fronted by new presenters Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley.
Bunton said today: "It's great to be asked back again to Lorraine's sofa, I can't wait to see what we'll get up to this time and what fabulous guests are being lined up to join me."
Gallacher said: "Filling in for the Queen of morning TV is a huge responsibility but I can't wait to get started."
