Frail but feisty Muhammad Ali continues his battle with Parkinsons

This year he celebrates his 66th birthday - and despite a very public battle with Parkinsons disease, the former boxer and one of the world's most revered sportsmen - is clearly determined not to give up without a fight.

A frail Muhammad Ali made his way slowly through Los Angeles International Airport on New Years Day with his family, using his luggage trolley as much for support, as for his baggage.

But despite his fragile demeanour, the feisty former champion is still not adverse to running his 'Louisville Lip'.

Ali reportedly refused to walk through the airport's x-ray machine, so instead submitted to being frisked by airport security.

Ali has suffered with Parkinson's for 22 years - but in what may be his greatest victory - he has managed to outlast it long enough to reach the age of retirement.

Bravely, the former world heavyweight champion has chosen not to hide his physical decline, instead he has continued a very public and dignified struggle which has continues to endear him to his millions of fans.
