Italian Dettori hitched wife Catherine to him piggy-back style before leaping into their hotel pool, as the couple enjoyed a romantic break in the south of France.

Dettori, 36, is enjoying a winning streak which has seen him win both the English and French Derby's this month.

And following his triumphs, he has taken some much-needed time out of the saddle to unwind in a luxury resort in millionaire's playground, St Tropez.

He told The Sun: "It's just me and Catherine having time on our own."

After their poolside horseplay, Frankie and Catherine made the most of the gourmet fare on offer, dining on a towering platter of seafood, and sharing a bottle of vintage champagne.

The father-of-five, 36, and his wife Catherine seemed enraptured with each other, and are clearly enjoying sharing quality time together following Frankie's racing exploits which saw him clinch his first ever Derby win in a thrilling ride.

The affectionate couple took turns to give each other a relaxing massage, although Frankie looked as if he was still intent on making mischief.

The Milan-born jockey was relaxing before gearing up for Royal Ascot next week.

His two-year old son Rocco is on the mend following an ashtma attack and he is said to be a favourite to become the first jockey to win BBC TV's Sports Personality of the Year award.
