Newly weds: Gary Lineker and Danielle Bux

The Match of the Day host, 48, and Danielle Bux, 30, opted for a town hall service yesterday with two witnesses.

The relaxed 10-minute ceremony was conducted entirely in Italian in the town of Ravello, above the Amalfi coast, and they celebrated with a candlelit dinner at their hotel. They are expected to celebrate the union today with a lavish reception, followed by a party this weekend for family and friends.

Councillor Luigi Apicella, who conducted the ceremony, said: "It was a very normal wedding and there was nothing extravagant.

"He didn't even have a jacket or tie on and they walked to the town hall.

"The bride wore a cream dress and the service was in Italian with a local girl translating for them."
