Gethin: I Strictly want John to win it now

Strictly Come Dancing veteran Gethin Jones is backing hapless John Sergeant to win the BBC show — but laid into contestant Rachel Stevens for being "really dull".

The Blue Peter presenter made the comments during an evening's drinking in a bar at Cardiff University.

Stepping in: Gethin Jones

Jones, 30, who was a semi-finalist last year, went behind the scenes of the competition last week to give his views on the show, but let his true feelings be known after drinking several mojitos.

He told one student: "The old guy John is brilliant and should keep on going to win. Rachel Stevens is the fittest on the show by far, but she is really dull."
