Gillian Taylforth's teenage daughter injured in car crash

TV star Gillian Taylforth's 15-year-old daughter Jessica was injured in a car crash
Footballer's Wives star Gillian Taylforth is holding a bedside vigil for her teenage daughter after she was involved in a horror car crash yesterday.

Detectives investigating the head-on crash which involved the Ex-Eastenders' 15-year-old daughter Jessica said her injuries were no longer classed as "life threatening".

The teenager was travelling in a car with two 18-year-old men when it crashed with another at a junction close to the star's home in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.

Police this morning said that Jessica had "stabilised" following the crash between a Vauxhall Zafira and a Ford Fiesta.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Police said: "Last night it was believed the 15-year-old had very serious, life-threatening injuries.

"Overnight she has improved and her condition has stabilised although she does still have serious injuries."

Distraught Gillian, 52, rushed to the girl's bedside yesterday afternoon after hearing news of the crash. She was joined by Jessica's dad Geoff Knights, 53.

Three ambulance crews, a rapid response paramedic and the air ambulance were called to the scene of the crash in Bell Lane at about 1.15pm yesterday.

Five people were taken to hospital but it is thought that Jessica suffered the worse injuries. She is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn Garden City.

The two teenaged men in the car also suffered minor injuries. In the other car, a 53-year-old woman suffered abdominal injuries and a 14-year-old schoolboy suffered minor injuries.

Spokeman for the East of England Ambulance Service Gary Sanderson said: "The paramedics worked extremely hard at the scene to treat five casualties with various injuries, one of which was life threatening." Gillian and Geoff also have a seven-year-old son, Harrison.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
