Girls Aloud launch raunchiest tour ever

Sure, there was singing and dancing, but the stand out element of Girls Aloud's latest tour: sex appeal a-go-go.

Spandex outfits, thigh high boots and midriff-baring tops proved favourites for the girls, who turned on a racy performance for the launch of their 15-date Greatest Hits show.

The group, who have sold more than four million albums in the UK, wowed audiences with raunchy routines to their most popular tracks, including Something Kinda Ooh, at Newcastle's Metro Arena.

The tour comes hot on the heels of their greatest hits album, The Sound Of Girls Aloud, which was released last year.

Girls Aloud, which features Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Cole, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, are continuing work on their fifth album, and have recently talked down rumours of a split.

Cheryl Cole and Sarah Harding delivered a knock out performance

Harding has said: "Don't believe the ridiculous story about us splitting up. Some people just can't stop making stories out of nothing."

The group enjoy being just as outrageous off stage, and certainly don't shy away from their reputation as party girls.

Coyle told Glamour magazine: "We're girls that like to go out and have fun."

"You become a pro at walking from the club to the car seeming sober. But then the photographers follow you home. Not so long ago they had a picture of me falling on my driveway!"

The band have taken the UK by storm since they were first discovered in five years ago on reality show Popstars: The Rivals.
