Perky newsreader Penny Smith had a surprise for GMTV viewers this morning - a freshly cropped new hairstyle.
The presenter debuted her severe pageboy cut for the first time, a dramatic change from her feminine flicked up bob.

Penny has sported a range of styles since she joined the station in 1993, but this is her shortest to date.
The sports enthusiast, who has produced three yoga videos, teamed her new hair style with a crisp stripped shirt.
The popular star once made the list of FHM's sexiest women in the world, but the jury is out on whether her elfin cut will be a winner with fans.
Penny, whose exes include Rory Bremner and Paul McKenna, is currently dating actor Vince Leigh, who recently starred in Silent Witness.
