Going for gold - Spandau Ballet to reform

Spandau Ballet are poised to reform after singer Tony Hadley signalled he was ready to bury the hatchet, following a bitter break-up.

The 80s band had a spectacular fall-out which ended in the High Court. Hadley, Steve Norman and John Keeble sued Gary Kemp for a £1 million share of the songwriting royalties but lost.

Kemp reportedly approached Hadley about a reunion for Live 8 in 2005 but was turned down. However, Hadley now says he is prepared to put the past behind him.

Discussing his hopes for a reunion on Virgin Radio's Shane Richie show, he said: "There'll have to be an awful lot of things remedied because things did get personal and it went a bit too far.

"The next window of opportunity that I see would be our 30th anniversary, in about four years' time."

The band had their first hit with To Cut A Long Story Short in November 1980. They had a string of hits including True, Gold and Through The Barricades. Their had their last top 40 single in 1987 with How Many Lies.

Brothers Gary and Martin Kemp went on to become actors with starring roles in The Krays. The band faced each other in the High Court in 1999 and relations have been non-existent since.

Hadley went on to win ITV reality show Reborn In The USA and has appeared in West End musical Chicago.

Their contemporaries, Duran Duran, made a successful comeback in 2003.

Martin Kemp, who appeared in EastEnders as club owner Steve Owen, has said he would welcome a reunion.

"I'm sure that if the five of us ever worked together ever again, after 15 minutes of being in a room together we'd forget about everything and we'd be laughing at the same stupid jokes we were laughing at when we were 17," he said.
