EastEnders villain Clare Bates is forced to flee Albert Square after her gold-digging plans are exposed.
Money-hungry Clare, played by ex-Hollyoaks actress Gemma Bissix, has been feeling increasingly sorry for herself in recent weeks after one of her targets Bradley Branning (Charlie Clements) found his name in her little black book with pound signs written beside it.
After a huge row with Bradley and coming to the realisation that she has no friends in Walford, Clare decides to pack her bags in search of pastures new.
Refusing guidance: After Dot Branning offers Claire Bates some guidance, the gold-digger feels guilty and decides to leave Albert Square
In this Thursday's episode, Clare's drinking and general unhappiness concerns caring Dot, who gives the scheming blonde some Christian advice.
Clare rebuffs Dot's attempt to help and insists she doesn't have a problem.
After learning of Clare's knockback, a furious Bradley - who is still angry at Clare for trashing Dot's house during an out-of-control house party - confronts her over her bad behaviour.
After talking to Chelsea Fox's pastor father Lucas Johnson (Don Gilet) and arguing with Bradley, Clare feels guilty.
Showing her hidden soft side, Clare buys Dot flowers and a card to say sorry for mistreating her house and being so rude when the pensioner was trying to help her.
Despite her attempts to make amends, Bradley denounces Clare as a nasty piece of work before storming out of the house.
A contemplative Clare decides there is nothing left for her in Albert Square and quietly leaves Walford, leaving a goodbye note and £100 for Dot and Bradley.
After originally starring in EastEnders as a child in the 1990s, Gemma made an explosive return to the soap in February, when her character was thrown into the market from a moving car owned by a former lover.
Clare soon targeted a string of the square's male residents in the hope of landing a payday, including Ian Beale, Max Branning and her former married lover Arnold.
Despite getting a job as a receptionist in Booty, Walford and its various residents' bank balances weren't quite big enough for Clare.
Gemma will next be seen on screen in Hotel Babylon.
