Golden oldies: Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale and Jane Fonda show Hollywood how to age gracefully

While many Hollywood stars are opting for surgery and Botox to fight the signs of ageing, seventysomething actresses Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale and Jane Fonda are ageing gracefully.

Steering clear of cosmetic enhancement, the former screen goddesses have happily embraced their wrinkles and look years younger.

Barbarella star Fonda, who has admitted undergoing plastic surgery in the past, insists she is ageing naturally and is happy in her 70-year-old skin.

Sensational at seventy: Jane Fonda embraces her wrinkles at a charity event over the weekend

At a charity event in Hollywood over the weekend, the former fitness guru declared she didn't have any assistants or chauffeurs, preferring to take care of herself.

Last year, Fonda admitted she had made a no-surgery pact with her longtime friend Sally Field, 61.

She said: "I have chosen not to have any more plastic surgery.

"Sally Field and I have kind of made a pact about that. We need women friends, women who challenge us.

"It's really hard, especially if you're a public person. But I want to give a face to aging.

"I'm going to try to organise other women in my profession and my friends to say no to the duck lips and getting rid of the wrinkles."

In 2006, Fonda signed a six-figure deal to become the face of beauty giant L'Oreal's Age Re-Perfect range.

Fabulous in the front row: Italy's golden girls Claudia Cardinale and Sophia Loren at the Armani fashion show in Paris on Monday

Fonda isn't the only celebrity resisting the urge to have a nip and tuck - the stars of the golden era of Italian cinema, Sophia Loren and Claudia Cardinale looked vivacious as ever as they joined a host of a-list stars at Giorgio Armani's Prive fashion show at the Eiffel Tower on Monday night.

A perfect example of how a Mediterranean diet can help you live a longer and healthier life, tanned Loren flashed her impressive cleavage in a low cut black chiffon top as she gazed at the Armani models on the catwalk.

Once Upon a Time in the West beauty Cardinale, who turns 70 in April, proudly showed off her slender back and shoulders in a spaghetti strapped top.

Loren is an outspoken critic of plastic surgery and claims she has preserved her good looks through a combination of "a love of life, spaghetti and the odd bath in virgin olive oil".

They joined Hilary Swank, burlesque dancer Dita von Teese, Lady Helen Taylor, Michelle Yeoh, Diane Kruger, and Grey's Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo on the front row at Armani's show.
