Gordon Ramsay gets help from spin doctor

Gordon Ramsay has called for the help of a celebrity spin doctor whose clients have included Paul Gascoigne and Fred "the Shred" Goodwin after a disastrous run of bad headlines.

Catching up: Gordon Ramsay, his wife Tana and Eva Longoria Parker

Ramsay — seen with his wife Tana and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker at the White House Correspondents' dinner cocktail party in Washington — has appointed former News of the World and Hello editor Phil Hall, who specialises in "crisis and reputation management".

Ramsay split from his previous spin doctor Gary Farrow, who had worked for the Michelin-starred chef for five years, in the wake of tabloid revelations of Ramsay's alleged affair with "professional mistress" Sarah Symonds.

Since then Ramsay has endured a string of stories questioning the stability of his business, disputing his claim that he was a member of Glasgow Rangers' first team squad in his youth and revealing that he uses "boil in a bag" meals cooked at a central kitchen at four of his restaurants.

Mr Hall said: "It's been a classic case of build 'em up and knock 'em down, it's what we do in this country. It happened to Jamie Oliver, it happened to Marco Pierre White and now it's happening to Ramsay."
