Hepburn's pink 'Tiffany's' dress sells for £100,000

The hot pink cocktail dress, worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, was sold for nearly £100,000 when 50 years of Hollywood history was auctioned at Christie's in New York.

The sleeveless dress sold to a private European buyer at Christie's sale of film and entertainment memorabilia.

It fetched more than six times the price expected by the auctioneers.

Last year the iconic black dress she also wore in the film sold for more than £400,000 at a London auction.

Christie's said it had expected the pink dress to sell for as much as £15,000.

Other items on sale included Marilyn Monroe's script for "Something's Got To Give," with the actress' handwritten notes, which sold for £10,000.

Stan Laurel's iconic bowler hat sold for £13,300

A programme from President John F. Kennedy's birthday celebration that featured the actress at Madison Square Garden went for £33,000.
