Hollyoaks' 'chav wedding from hell' as Carmel marries Calvin in ultra-tacky ceremony

After a whirlwind 11 month romance, ditzy PCSO Carmel McQueen weds hunky copper Calvin Valentine.

But as with all soap weddings, things don't always run exactly to plan.

Bouffant-haired bride Carmel, played by Gemma Merna, appears to have a disaster with the tanning machine so walks down the aisle a glowing shade of orange.

Following her character's over-the-top dress sense, the bride teams her orange hue with a white lacy mermaid gown.

Despite her tanning disaster, the colour isn't quite all over - the backless gown exposes Carmel's strapmarks, to the horror of Chester fashionistas.

The wedding gown is so tight, Carmel practically waddles down the aisle to marry her man.

And for those detesting the bride's gown, the bridesmaids dresses don't disappoint either.

Calvin's little sisters Sasha (Nathalie Emmanuel) and Lauren (Dominique Jackson) join the youngest McQueen, Michaela, in feathery peach gowns to play the role of bridesmaids.

And it appears Michaela must have been too busy to attend the dress fittings after she is photographed spilling out of her peach gown.

The bride and bridesmaids aren't the only fashion victims at Carmel and Calvin's big day.

The groom, played by Ricky Whittle, is forced to wear his police officer uniform after an accident with his tuxedo.

Sisters of the bride Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe), Jacqui (Claire Cooper) and Tina Reilly (Leah Hackett) all arrive at the church is varying tacky outfits.

Oldest McQueen sister Jacqui is a vision of garishness in a turquoise leopard-print satin neglilee-like dress and oversized fascinator, while Mercedes goes for the WAG-look in a gold one-shouldered gown, back-combed hair and, of course, lashings of fake tan.

Not to be left out in the fashion stakes is mother of the bride Myra, played by Nicole Barber Lane, who opts for a loud, hot pink multi-layered gown.

Carmel and Calvis will be hoping it's happy ever after for them after previous McQueen weddings have ended in disaster.

Last year, both Carmel's older sisters Jacqui and Mercedes married, only to be divorced within a year.

Former jailbird Jacqui was forced to marry illegal immigrant Aleksander Malota, who was after a UK visa, as payback to her former crime boss Davey.

Just months into Jacqui's marriage, Alek fell for his sister-in-law Carmel, but was forced to return to Albania after Jacqui filed for divorce.

Meanwhile, Mercedes' marriage to Russ Owen ended just weeks after they tied the knot after the bolshy barmaid was forced to reveal her infidelity to him during Warren Fox's (Jamie Lomas) trial for the attempted murder of Clare Cunningham (Gemma Bissix).

Carmel and Calvin's wedding is set to screen on Channel 4 in September, so fans will have to wait and see if the couple's big day ends up happily.
