How it all went wrong for George

Gorgeous George entered the Big Brother house relishing the prospect of airing his political views to millions of viewers.

But the 51-year-old will be best remembered for bizarrely getting down on his hands and knees and pretending to be a cat lapping milk.

Galloway made his mark by becoming the first MP to take part in the Channel 4 reality show, but it was not the kind of mark he would have wanted.

The politician has been ridiculed for his antics, which have included dressing up in a skin-tight red leotard to perform a robot dance.

The cigar-smoking former Labour MP initially charmed his fellow housemates.
But things went downhill for Galloway when his companions discovered that he had been backstabbing.

Breaking the rules by discussing nominations meant Galloway was denied electoral privileges.

After leaving the house last night, the Respect MP will have been told that the Serious Fraud Office is looking into the results of a United Nations-backed investigation into alleged kickbacks from Saddam Hussein.

It has also emerged that an investigation into complaints about Galloway's conduct could be reopened by House of Commons standards watchdog Sir Philip Mawer.

Galloway will also discover that new pictures have been published in The Sun newspaper appearing to show him meeting Saddam Hussein's notorious son Uday.

The only good news for Galloway will be that he has won an appeal case involving the Daily Telegraph.

Galloway's absence in the House of Commons led to angry MPs launching a petition demanding his return.

The Respect MP has been accused of neglecting his constituents, missing a crucial vote in the Commons on the London Crossrail project affecting his Bethnal Green and Bow constituency.

A dozen local residents protested about his absence outside his office in east London and MPs have lined up to ridicule the politician.

Labour MP Steve Pound said: "Next he'll be advertising cat food. I actually feel sorry for him because that's the only future he's got.

"When he returns to the House of Commons there is going to be such a chorus of 'Meow'. He'll have a saucer of milk waiting for him and a litter tray."

Inside the Big Brother house, he has also been cold-shouldered by his fellow housemates for his vicious outbursts.

He tackled Preston, accusing him of double standards and being a "lying plutocrat" before turning on Michael Barrymore over cigarettes.

"You're a real cigarette addict and you ought to address the fact that you've no loyalty to anybody," he told the former TV star.

In turn, Preston branded him a "school bully" and said: "It must be stressful for him now because he knows he's blown it. He will leave here a villain because he cheated and bullied."

The firebrand politician spent much of the time dozing, but bonded with actress Rula Lenska.

When he purred something that was not picked up by the microphones in her ear - she exclaimed: "Well I'm glad it can still do that for you."

Later, when the group were talking about sex, Galloway claimed: "This is the longest I've ever gone without my mind wandering in that direction."

But Rula reminded him: "You told me not to stand in a certain position the other day because it had 'been a long time'."

But their relationship turned frosty when the actress watched Galloway nominate her for eviction.

Galloway was expelled from the Labour Party for comments about the Iraq war and went on to win the Bethnal Green and Bow seat as leader of the anti-war Respect party, ousting Labour's Oona King.

His chosen charity, InterPal, provides humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
