How Michelle Pfeiffer sent her bags packing

Beauty doesn't come with a sell-by date. At least that's what Michelle Pfeiffer has always claimed.

But as she approaches 50, she may find she needs a little help to keep her fresh-faced look.

Earlier this month Miss Pfeiffer - who insists she would never countenance plastic surgery - appeared to have developed the beginnings of eye bags.

But in the publicity photographs for her latest film Stardust - in which she plays a murderous witch - the bags have been sent packing.

Bags? What bags? Miss Pfeiffer in Stardust

The skills of an airbrushing artist are probably responsible for her transformation. In any event, plastic surgery would be a long shot.

In an interview last year Miss Pfeiffer said she hoped she was "courageous enough to age gracefully" and described her beauty as a "curse", claiming it had prevented her from being taken seriously as an actress.

In Stardust, she shares the screen with Sienna Miller - 24 years her junior and also known for her luminous beauty.

The eyes have it: Michelle Pfeffier letting the years show

The film, based on the best-selling novel by Neil Gaiman, tells the story of a young man, Tristan - played by Casanova star Charlie Cox - who is on a quest to win the heart of Victoria, played by Miss Miller.

Tristan's adventure takes him into a fantasy world where he faces the fearsome witch Lamia (Miss Pfeiffer) and pirate Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro).

The £50million movie, which will be released in October, was shot in Scotland. It also stars Peter O'Toole and Ricky Gervais.
