How TV weathergirl Andrea McLean lost 10lb in just eight weeks

Television presenter Andrea McLean looks stunning as she posed for a 50s-style photoshoot after losing 10lb in eight weeks.

The GMTV presenter, who also fronts Loose Women, finally shed the last of the excess weight she gained after the birth of her daughter Amy through an intense exercise and diet regime - and celebrated by posing as a vintage pin-up for Closer magazine.

Dressed in a black and white one-piece swimsuit, accessorised with a wide-brimmed hat and a slash of red lipstick, Andrea looks back to her svelte best after slimming from a rounded size 14 to a slim size 10.

The glamorous presenter, 38, who also has a six-year-old son Finlay with builder husband Steve, admitted it was much harder second time around to lose the baby weight, and she had to enlist a personal trainer and change her diet to lose those stubborn last pounds.

Andrea told Closer magazine: 'I lost the baby weight within a year of having Finlay, but after Amy, it took 18 months.

'Up until eight weeks ago, I was 10st 4lb and felt really uncomfortable. But now I'm 9st 7lb, which feels about right for my 5ft 7 height - though I'd like to get down to 9st.'

Unlike most celebrities who snap back immediately after the birth, due to antenatal health problems, it took Andrea a long 18 months to shed all of the four stone she gained after the birth of her daughter in November 2006.

And when she returned to work six months after having Amy as a size 14, the black trouser suits she wore failed to hide the excess weight.

During her pregnancy, the mother of two suffered an umbilical hernia - which develops near the belly button - and then abdominal wall complications, and was ordered by doctors not to exercise.

She said: 'Because of the pregnancy complications, my stomach still stuck out like a pregnancy belly'.

But once she was given the all-clear to start exercising again, she enlisted
the help of a trainer, and undertook twice-weekly cardio and weights workouts.

Andrea swapped her chocolate habit for grapes and dumped the takeaways, noting everything she ate in a food diary.

'I have a glass of water, some green tea and a banana, apple and honey smoothie, plus a cinnamon and raisin  bagel and fruit salad.

'For lunch, I eat a jacket potato and salad, and then I'll have a light dinner of fish and veg. For a treat, I'll have a Sunday roast.'

The changes have clearly paid off.

Andrea now says she will keep up the diet and fitness regime and hopes to eventually get down to 9st.

She said: 'I don't mind how long it takes, but I think that would be my ideal weight. I'm not going to stress about it, though. I know that cutting out rubbish and doing exercise works.

'That's what I would tell other new mums - don't panic, it took me a while to get here, but I feel great now.'
