Hugh's proposed to Jemima, say friends
14 July 2007
But Hugh Grant and Jemima Khan give every appearance of being back on in these exclusive pictures.
The on/off pair enjoyed a clandestine dinner at The Ritz hotel in Paris last month - and were together again last weekend, sharing an al fresco lunch at a fish restaurant on the Embankment in London.

The dates have compounded rumours of an engagement, even though sources close to Jemima insist they have no plans to marry. Days before they lunched last week, the 33-year-old heiress looked shocked when she was spotted being dropped off outside her Chelsea home by the 46-year-old Four Weddings And A Funeral star.
Last night a source close to the couple, who split up in February, insisted that they were 'very much back on'.
"Jemima is saying they are just friends and that it was a coincidence they met in Paris, but all the signs are pointing to the relationship being on again," a friend said.
"They have always had a complex relationship and it's true that Jemima still sees her first husband, Imran but that's because they have children. It's different with Hugh.
"There could have been a clean break but he has begged Jemima for another chance.
"He has proposed but Jemima isn't sure whether she wants to enter another marriage.
"They started seeing each other again in April. It was on the understanding that they would give it a proper shot and that if they could make it work, they would marry.
"Hugh has proposed. But one of the reasons they have not made the announcement is because Jemima's mother, Lady Annabel, has told her daughter not to rush into anything.
"She has seen Jemima go through one divorce and doesn't want her to go through another one." Family friends said Grant was 'noticeably absent' from Lady Annabel's annual summer party last week, where there was no talk of a wedding.
The friend said: "Hugh has instructed Jemima not to say anything until they make an official announcement. Jemima knows she needs to be 100 per cent certain that this is the right thing for her, which is why they have been so cagey about going public."
Over recent weeks, the couple have endeavoured not to be spotted together, although sources say they have met for dinner regularly.
They dined in Paris three weeks ago while Jemima was there for a family meeting and Grant on business. "They were actually there separately,' said the friend. "It was a complete coincidence that they ended up meeting for dinner."
Jemima has denied to friends that she and Grant are back together. "They see each other, speak to each other and are good friends,' the friend said.
"But she has said quite categorically that the story about her and Hugh getting engaged is not true."
A spokesman for Grant failed to return calls, while Jemima refused to comment on her private life.
